Unlocking EU careers and ERASMUS+ opportunities for Racialised European youth
Youth unemployment new report
The latest report on youth unemployment in the UK reveals alarming statistics and calls for urgent action to address the crisis. Here are the key findings from the recent reports:

1.01 million young people aged 16-24 were NEET in January-March 2026, a post-pandemic high.

The number of NEETs could rise from 1 in 8 to 1 in 6 by 2031, affecting 1.25 million young people.

There are 1.6 million fewer low- and medium-skilled jobs in the economy than in previous decades.
These findings highlight the urgent need for government action to support young people into work or education and to address the root causes of youth unemployment.
Bright Future aims to inspire racialised European youth by raising awareness about career pathways within the EU and opportunities under the ERASMUS+ programme. It also highlights the journeys of current staff members from EU and Member States’ diplomatic missions from racialised backgrounds, sharing their lived experiences to motivate the next generation to follow in their footsteps.

Bright Future delivered an inspiring information session to students at Cadbury College in Birmingham, in collaboration with the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO). We are grateful to GRAS Heike and AKIF Silvija
The session introduced students to the wide range of opportunities available across EU institutions and provided practical guidance on accessing EU careers.

Their professional journeys and lived experiences offered powerful insights and inspiration. Hearing directly from professionals working within EU institutions helped students see what is possible and reinforced the importance of visibility and representation. These are the role models young people need to see and hear from more often to inspire confidence, ambition, and a sense of belonging.
With thousands of jobs and traineeship opportunities available across EU institutions, this session opened doors, broadened horizons, and encouraged students to consider futures they may not have previously imagined.
We are grateful to EPSO for their continued support and partnership and look forward to strengthening this collaboration as we work together to inspire and empower the next generation.
